According to REACH

Dear valued customer,

Draka Kabely, s.r.o. understands its REACH and RoHS obligations and will take the necessary actions to ensure that all materials we use in our products comply with REACH and RoHS, i.e. to ensure that Draka Kabely, s.r.o. and Draka's material suppliers or other parties up the supply chain will register all substances used in our products according to REACH.

The PVC compound Draka produces within Draka Holding, is exempted from registration and evaluation, since the polymer does not contain > 2% weight by weight of monomer nor do we produce PVC monomer > 1 tonne per year.

Cables and optical fibers are under the REACH guidelines articles. Articles that in normal use are not intended to release any chemical substances are not within the scope of REACH and there is no obligation to register such products.
Drakas' role therefore is generally a downstream user of substances in articles. In the few cases where we import substances on their own or in preparations (compounds) in quantities > 1 ton/year per legal company from suppliers outside EU/EEA, we have an obligation, as well as our own commitment, to register the substances. We haven taken care to comply with the registration duty ourselves.

REACH also focuses on "substances of very high concern" (carcinogenic etc). At 28 th of October 2008 ECHA published the first candidate list of such substances. The list is regularly updated and new substances are added to the "Authorization List" in Annex XIV. Draka continuously evaluates updated information and acts accordingly to ensure compliancy.

In case Draka Kabely, s.r.o. is informed by its suppliers that any of the substances regulated by REACH are present in Draka compounds or articles in a concentration above threshold limits, Draka Kabely, s.r.o. will in turn provide this information to our customers.

To Draka's Kabely, s.r.o. best knowledge, our cables and compounds do not contain lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr), Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBBs), or Polybrominated Diphenyl ethers (PBDEs, including decaBDE), and are therefore RoHS compliant.
